Bart and Carol are your hosts at Linden Hall. The property was acquired in 1997. The previous owners had purchased the home in the 1960s and spent over 20 years restoring the rundown buildings, for which they won the 1984 Loudoun Preservation Society Merit Award. Since then, the Hodgson’s have continued to enhance the home inside and out. The Guest House has served at various times since 1900 as part of the extended family home, as well as a rental. Surrounding the home are 35 acres, with a carriage house, stables, spring house, and a stone cottage used over 100 years ago as a school house for resident and neighboring children.
In the Summer of 2009, the Hodgson’s decided to create an upscale lodging in the Guest House which would emphasize the rural setting and availability of local attractions. Over the following months, they labored to upgrade the kitchen, bathroom and furnishings throughout the Guest House. They opened the doors in November 2010.
Work began in 2016 to improve a 1790s stone building into a private, modern cottage, called the School House and suitable for 1-2 residents. The cottage is completely private and has a front and rear deck. The upgrade made every effort to retain the original historic construction materials and construction while meeting and passing the county building codes and was approved for occupancy in May 2023.
